Designer Ally Fountain believes every room needs layers, and the layers in this soothing, well-edited living room are well chosen. They’re soft, subtle, simpatico.
Together, they tell the room’s story: “A balance of calm and casual,” says Ally, who is based in our Design Center in Bellevue, WA. The room was already painted a serene shade of mineral when she took on the project, so with the perfect canvas in place, Ally got started.
The Fretwork Dhurrie rug in seafoam is right at home. To create a calm feeling, Ally opted for shapely, comfortable seating (Lynn sofa, Lynn chair and Hartwell chair).
“Pillows are the string that ties everything into a nice bow,” says Ally. She found fabrics that “create visual interest and take your eye on a pleasing tour all around the room.”
Ally selected Clancy, a hardworking neutral fabric for comfort and ease of care. Wood blinds lend a natural feel to the space; a dark finish on the Freya Round Spot table adds contrast.
Finally, in need of an appropriately soft and breezy centerpiece accent, Ally decided on the Peach Blossom watergarden, a simple—and simply exquisite—lifelike bouquet.
