In Chinese mythology, there is a menagerie of creatures whose images and meanings have evolved over time. Our Foo Dog, which bears a resemblance to a lion, is a modern interpretation of a traditional guardian of Buddhist temples. Versatile in pure white, it is the perfect springboard for an Asian-inspired design theme and mingles well among other porcelain pieces such as our Black and White Gourd vase, our Small Black temple jar, and our Black and White Hexagon jar. It’s available left- and right-facing, making a pair perfect for use as bookends.

Here he is again, the majestic Foo Dog. Featured atop our Green and White Foo Dog jar, you can rely on him to be a symbolic protector of your castle. Using techniques that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years and materials from Jiangxi (the source of some of the world’s finest porcelain clay), craftsmen form and paint the exquisite jar by hand. Botanical green brings fresh appeal to this classic form. The jar is also available in blue and black.
