ETHAN ALLEN RETAILER DONATES TALENT AND FURNISHINGS TO FAMILIES IN NEED
Not everyone has the luxury of living in a comfortable, fully furnished home—and no one knows that better than David Connolly and the designers at W.L. Landau, an authorized Ethan Allen retailer in Hartsdale, NY, who are once again teaming up to support Furniture Sharehouse of Westchester County. Since 2007, the agency—one of only 50 or so furniture banks in the U.S.—has distributed more than 57,000 household items to approximately 10,000 local residents in need.
Ethan Allen of Hartsdale is doing its part to ensure that the “Power of 10” Gala, a fundraiser celebrating the Furniture Sharehouse’s 10th anniversary, is a huge success. The design team is creating a beautiful living room vignette that will be showcased at the gala. The furnishings—a sofa, two armchairs, coffee and side tables, artwork, lamp, and an area rug—will then be put up for bid in a silent auction.
“As a company that helps people create beautiful, functional, and comfortable interiors, we have been a great supporter of Furniture Sharehouse since we first learned about it in 2014,” says Connolly. “In addition to our donations, we know exactly where to send our customers when they ask what they should do with the furniture they are replacing.”
Those responsible for the vignette are design center manager Amani Thorpe-Lee, visual merchandiser Ryan Mary Flaherty, and designers Kathy Vigoda and Donna Bouley. The furnishings have an estimated retail value of more than $10,000.
“It feels good to do good,” adds Connolly. And a lot of good the Furniture Sharehouse can do with the money that was raised during the gala, which was held on Friday, October 28, at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club in Mamaroneck, NY.
Now that’s what we call making design matter!
